Clinical Pilates.
Under your physio coverage.
Motion Theory is preparing to launch one of the only Reformer-based clinical Pilates programs on the West Broadway corridor — delivered by a registered physiotherapist and billed under your extended health benefits.
Not a fitness class. Not a drop-in studio. A medically-directed movement program that pairs the precision of the Reformer with the clinical rigour of physiotherapy — so every session counts toward your recovery.
No commitment. First access when we open bookings.
Clinical Pilates is not what you do at a studio on Saturday morning.
Studio Pilates
- Group or semi-private format
- Instructor-led, fitness-focused
- No clinical assessment or diagnosis
- Not covered by extended health
- Generic programming for everyone
Clinical Pilates at Motion Theory
- One-on-one with a registered physiotherapist
- Grounded in your specific injury, surgery, or movement deficit
- Reformer-based — springs, resistance, and precision
- Billed under physiotherapy — covered by most extended health plans
- Fully integrated with your broader rehab plan
The Reformer isn't a luxury. It's a rehabilitation tool.
The Pilates Reformer uses a spring-resistance system to create controlled, low-impact movement across a full range of motion. That makes it uniquely suited to rehabilitation — where load management, joint position, and movement quality matter as much as strength.
Unlike floor-based physiotherapy exercises, the Reformer allows your physiotherapist to modify resistance, range, and body position with precision — so every session can meet you exactly where you are. Post-surgical. Post-accident. Or simply post-years-of-compensation.
Post-surgical recovery
Ideal for hip and knee replacement, ACL reconstruction, and spinal surgery — where load management and range of motion are the priority.
Chronic back and hip pain
Controlled spinal loading, pelvic stability work, and deep-core activation — without the flare that floor-based exercises often cause.
ICBC & MVA recovery
Motor vehicle accident patients often present with whole-body movement dysfunction. The Reformer addresses this systematically and under ICBC coverage.
Return to sport and performance
For athletes who need more than strength — proprioception, symmetry, and movement efficiency built back in before return to competition.
Your extended health benefits cover this. Most studios can't say that.
Extended Health
Because sessions are delivered by a registered physiotherapist, they bill as physiotherapy — meaning your standard extended health plan applies. Most plans cover 80–100%.
ICBC Motor Vehicle
Post-accident patients with active ICBC claims can access Clinical Pilates as part of their physiotherapy treatment. Direct billing, no out-of-pocket.
WorkSafeBC
Occupational injury rehabilitation delivered through Clinical Pilates may be covered under WorkSafeBC when directed by your physiotherapist as part of your treatment plan.
Coverage varies by plan. We recommend checking your annual physiotherapy benefit before booking. Our team will confirm your coverage and direct-bill wherever possible.
One of the only Reformer clinics on the West Broadway corridor.
West Broadway has no shortage of Pilates studios — but a clinical Reformer program under registered physiotherapy coverage is a different category entirely. Motion Theory is bringing this to 1367 West Broadway, in the heart of the Fairview medical corridor, near Vancouver General Hospital. Walk-in distance from Kitsilano, South Granville, and Cambie.
