Sports Rehab.
Sports injury rehabilitation at Motion Theory goes beyond returning athletes to pre-injury level. We use return-to-sport criteria, not calendar timelines, to guide every return decision. Our goal is to return you stronger, more resilient, and less likely to be injured again than you were before.
Who It's For
Competitive and recreational athletes recovering from sprains, strains, tendinopathies, stress fractures, dislocations, and post-surgical presentations. All sports, all ages, all levels.
What We Assess
Sport-specific assessment covers the injured structure, relevant movement patterns, strength deficits, and sport-specific demands. Single-leg strength testing and hop testing establish the objective baseline for return-to-sport decisions.
Treatment Approach
Treatment combines targeted injury management, progressive strength training, sport-specific movement retraining, and graded return to training. We use criterion-based progression, where each phase has specific objective criteria that must be met before advancement.
What to Expect
Injury Management
Address the acute injury, manage load, and begin early capacity building while maintaining conditioning.
Strength & Sport Skills
Progressive strengthening, running mechanics, change of direction, and sport-specific skill reintegration.
Return to Competition
Criterion-based return to training and competition with psychological readiness assessment.
Clinic Location & Access
Located at 1367 West Broadway in Vancouver, Motion Theory is situated in the Fairview medical corridor, in close proximity to Vancouver General Hospital (VGH). We serve patients from Kitsilano, Mount Pleasant, and the broader Metro Vancouver area.
Common Questions
How do you decide when I'm ready to return to sport?
We use a combination of limb symmetry testing, single-leg hop capacity, agility assessment, and psychological readiness screening. Calendar time alone does not determine readiness.
Can I continue training while injured?
In most cases, yes. We identify which activities are safe to continue and which require temporary modification. Complete cessation of training is rarely necessary.
Do you work with team athletes?
Yes. We communicate with coaches and team medical staff where appropriate to coordinate return-to-play timing with team schedules.
